About

Child Find PEI is a registered non-profit charitable organization that works interprovincially with other Child Finds across Canada. It was founded in Charlottetown, PEI on April 18, 1988 and subsequently became incorporated on July 8, 1988. We started networking on November 20, 1988. We had our first case on November 25, 1988.

Child Find PEI assists in the location and recovery of missing and exploited children and helps reunite them with their lawful parent/guardian. We educate the public on ways to prevent abduction and provide assistance and support to families affected by the trauma of a missing child. We refer parents to various professional services and advocates for the rights of children.

Child Find PEI offers a variety of community awareness and public education programs related to child safety. Through heightened awareness and education, we strives to assist parents in avoiding situations that put children at risk of abduction. Some of our program activities include: "All About Me ID" (fingerprinting clinics), educational videos such as "Too Smart for Strangers" & "How to Raise a Street Smart Child", distribution of brochures and pamphlets, public displays at community events, and distribution of missing children posters. Our services are rendered at no cost, with funds generated back into our programs to serve our communities.

Child Find PEI is located at 549 North River Road and employs a full-time Executive Director, along with a volunteer base of approximately 50 people. Child Find PEI is governed by a Board of Directors.
