Being a Volunteer

Volunteerism is vital to the existence of our organization since all our programs are offered free of charge. Without the dedication of our volunteers, we would not be able to carry out our programs. Our volunteers fingerprint, distribute newsletters, deliver national posters of missing children, do public speaking, and attend information booths. They also volunteer at fundraising activities such as Twins Fashion Shows, Poker Runs, raffles, and Green Ribbon of Hope Campaign. They also participate on committees and sub-committees.

All of our Child Find PEI volunteers are thoroughly screened prior to becoming a volunteer. They are required to produce a current police record check, have three references checks completed and must participate in a one-on-one interview.

After the successful completion of the screening part of the application, they become a volunteer. Each new volunteer is required to attend orientation meeting where they become acquainted with each other, our Board Members & Executive Director, Child Find's Mandate, committees, programs, expectations, etc. They receive an orientation manual and are properly trained in fingerprinting by police or retired police members. Annual volunteer training nights are schedules to train new volunteers as well as update the skills of existing volunteers. In addition to training, an information sheet is provided to all volunteers when they engage in volunteer duties.

To become a volunteer contact the Child Find office at 368-1678 or email childfind@pei.aibn.com.
